It is fortunate that you are moving in winter. I would wait until first freeze if possible because then your bush will be dormant and won't suffer from transplant shock. If you can't wait until first freeze then try to move as much soil around the root ball as possible. Also, make sure you have it's new home already prepped and ready to go.

Early winter is a good time to move woody plants. It would be best if you cut it back hard, move it into it's new plot, water lightly and wait until next spring/summer. Any woody plants should be cut back in Oct/Nov for good foliage the following year.

You will have to dig deep & wide to get it out. Save as much dirt as possible around roots & wrap burlap around dirt & roots. I wouldn't trim it this year; the move will be enough for one season. After tied, allow to sit in hole until moving; 1 week in advance should be OK during this time of year.
