Who was Canada's Prime Minister?

Mmkay. I have a project due about the day I was born. I was born in 1996 and one of the questions are:
"Who was Canada's Prime Minister in 1996?"
I can't find anything on the internet, and my mom isn't quite sure. Could you please help me?

Jean Chretien of Quebec Province and head of the Liberal Party. He was known by a nickname of "the little guy from Shawinigan", the town he was born and raised in.
