My middle school is doing the musical The Music Man. Last year I was Gretl in The Sound of Music and I was the only 6th grader to get a main part. This year I really want to have a fun role, well a lead, but I dont know much about the play or what characters I should try out for. I was thinking Amaryillis or Eulalie Shinn......

If it's a middle school production, you can go for pretty much any role. They obviously won't be casting adults so Eulalie certainly isn't out of the question. Eulalie is fun, but you really have to be willing to be made fun of and be laughed at while trying to be completely serious. Amaryllis sounds right though only because if you played Gretl then you must be small. It's not a huge part, but it's decent. Zaneeta is also fun, she's the teenage daughter.

you are too young for Eulalie who is in high school, so Anaryllis is it. But care more about how you can help the show rather than how the show can help you. Take any role, and work on production crews.
