In some ways, overcoming stage fright in a performance is very similar to overcoming nervousness in an audition. By far the most important way to avoid stage fright is to be fully prepared. If you are worried about blocking, remembering your lines, what scene comes next, choreography, etc, then who could blame you for being afraid? Put in the time and effort early on in the rehearsal process and you will feel more confident about your abilities.

Keeping yourself organized offstage can go a long way to avoiding panic as well. If you have a large role, keeping a chart of your responsibilities over the course of the show will keep you focused on what you have to do next.

Having butterflies before a performance is normal for all performers, even professionals, but if you have done everything you can to prepare and keep yourself organized and stage fright is still a serious problem, I think it is important to really think about why it is you continue to perform. Obviously there must be something you enjoy about it or you wouldn't continue - so concentrate on that, and try to address what specifically is making you nervous.

There are more available on the web of course.

good luck!

ok. calm down. since you say you can survive in amateur theatre as well as professional, this audition is not all that important. There are lots of other musical theatre programs in the country. Finally, a couple of real helps. First: remember that acting and singing are a way to have fun, acting is called playing after all and that is exactly what it is playing for fun. Singing is also great fun. Therefore you should always look forward to any opportunity to have fun by acting and/or singing. The audition is just another chance to perform and have fun, so do that. have fun! Next: when called upon to perform or when you slate your recording when you take your place, before you start to sing, say to the camera or to everyone there, 'I love being here!" Then show how much fun you are having by performing. Audition aced!

hey, relax. OK, not the best thing to say, but still. It depends on how you react. So weather you sit down and concentrate on what you are doing, or distract your mind with something else is up to you.
However some common things you can do are:
1) Breathe! you would be surprised how much taking a low breath from your diaphragm helps anxiety.
2) Drink lots of water, especially if you start to feel sick.
3)Be yourself, and do your best, if you love this and do your best, I have the utmost confidence in you!
