Because I didnt expose the root bulb as much as I should have?

It could be, but it could be that you only need to be patient and see if they bloom the next season. Is the foliage on the nonbloomers nice or do they look ill. If they look ill then I would suggest that you remove them. If they look nice then give them a chance to grow a bit more rhizome. Good Luck

Not really. I had an older dog die exactly that way, but not that young. Fine one minute, dropped to the floor and had what appeared to be a seizure, then gone. It wasn't a true seizure but it looked very similar. My vet thought she threw a blood clot. You could have a necropsy performed if you wish. It's pretty upsetting any way you look at it, just be glad it was quick and no long painful illness and tons of vet visits like most dogs go through. Best wishes P.S. It's as rare for a dog to die from a seizure as it is for a human, and usually when that happens it's due to other circumstances like hitting the head during seizure or such. My guess is it was from something else

Look up 'Iris borers'. That sounds like what you have. You will have to dig and get rid of the damaged ones, then replant.
