What does cutting my iris stalks have a thing to do with my age. lol,,I am 50 hows that...maybe I should know better :-(

Iris, unlike daffodils. crocus, narcissus, can be cut after they bloom. You do not cut them to the ground but kind of give them a diagonal cut across the fan of the leaves. Cut them about 5 to 6 inches above the ground. I am glad that this can be done as I have struggled a long time to figure out how to disguise floppy leaves from tulips, daffodils, etc that must be left alone and not cut if you want them to rebloom.

No they will be fine. You may see some growth before dormancy, but it should hurt them at all.
