yes you can upgrade the mother board.. but only through compaq,, they make their cases so that you have to get their boards... I know I'v worked on many

Go to Power Leap at powerleap.com...download and run the InSPECS software you will be shown. It will show you what is on your computer already and what you can upgrade things to.
