I am tired of seeing these things in my house. They are so annoying and I just can seem to get rid of the stupid things. I even see them in my car, which doesnt make things much better, so can any of you intellectuals help me out here? Ten points to anybody that can help me get these damn things out of my crib and ride.

1. Get a small jar you don't plan on using again ( like a baby food jar or something similar ) and wash it out well. Make sure it is not a jar with a funky smell such as a used pickle jar or anything that use to have strong spices. You want a clean, odorless jar.

2. Take a chunk of banana and place inside the jar. This is why you want a clean, odorless jar - so that the banana smell won't be overpowered by other not-so-tempting smells. Banana seems to work the best, but you can experiment.

3. Fit a piece of plastic wrap over the top of the jar, making sure that it fits tight and well sealed around the edges. Then take a pen or pencil and poke 4 to 5 holes in the plastic, just big enough for a fruit fly to fit into. Once a fruit fly crawls in, it can't get out. You would think they would just fly back out through the holes, but they won't!

keep ur sink clean, no dirty dishes, also make sure u dont have old fruit laying around. we had them too and i understand how u feel. my husband put a strip of duckt tape upside down on the kitchen counter and on a rack were we had our fruit and thank God they stuck to there and now their pretty much GONE. well good luck =) u can also use the clear tape just make sure it's the wide kind, not the skinny one u would use for gifts LOL.

All of the above, PLUS---get rid of any recycleable containers. They love to hang around old beer or soda cans. If you are required to recycle, keep the container outside.

Hang a couple of gallon size zip-lock bags full of water. Don't ask me why or how this works, but it does... amazingly well.
