For the center of Athens city the transportation of goods is done by small vans and trucks of small weight capacity, only of few tons, 1-5.
For the areas outside the city center, "daktylios" , bigger lorries and tractors are used.
Depending on the individual loads and the destinations within the Prefecture of Attiki, arrangements are made by transportation firms to cater for the needs of their clients.
For transportation of goods in other destinations, including most of the islands, lorries of 12 to 25 tons capacity are used.
The trip is carried out with the help of ferries. That is why Greece has one of the most developed systems of ferries services.

Bulk loads are also moved around by ships between different ports on the mainland and the islands.
To the States transportation is done in containers by boat.
Of course, the use of courier services are also used for smaller quantities.
