For as long as i can remember ive wanted to be a lawyer. Thats basically the direction ive been going in for most of my life. But im realizing now that its just not what i want to do. Im 16 years old in gr.11, and i feel like the clock is ticking and i have to pick what i want to do right now. Im thinking about gettign an MBA but im not sure. I hate mathematics and sciences, but im excellent with literature and languages. Before i wanted to be a lawyer i wanted to be a journalist, but my parents said im not goign to make any money. The guidance counselor as school is a heartless nazi who couldnt care less about our future, so basically i have no one to talk to about the most important decision of my life. I want to make a lot of money and live comfortably, tuition money is no issue. Any ideas about what i should pursue in university?

If I could tell you what to do with your life, then I would know what to do with my life. I good majority of people do not know exactly what do to with their lives.
Best thing you can do is just get a good idea of what you want to do... esp. what you want to enjoying doing and just take a chance. You need to work hard, but at the same time go with the flow.
For example, some people end up working in a field entirely different from their major. Or some people didn't end up getting their dream job, but actually ended up with something better. So, you just going to have to take a risk and keep your head up.
If you want to do something that requires some skill or be a professional of some type... someday, then you need a college education( 4 yr degree).

A teacher once told me, "When you are able to choose, you are in a privileged position." So you are in a good spot in life if you can choose your own path.
Follow your heart and happiness. It will not lead you astray.
Like you, I was always good with literature and languages and thought of being a lawyer. I didn't go to law school -instead I have an MBA. I also have a master's degree in science. I teach English as a profession. I am still thinking of going to law school. My lawyer friends envy the fact that I love going to work every day as an English teacher.
I travel a great deal, but nothing fancy. Just this year, I have been to Arabia and Taiwan for the first time. I also have a pilot's license and can fly both single engine land and seaplanes.
I would have never thought any of this possible for myself in
high school. Just like you, I worried that I had to make important life choices when I was young. The great teacher and philosopher Joseph Campbell counseled his students to
"follow your bliss." Do that and you will be successful in your own heart. Perhaps being an English teacher may be a good fit for you.
Best of luck

Relax. There is no hurry to pick. You have until junior year in college to choose a major. In the meantime, take a variety of courses to explore possibilities. Also, you can do summer internships in fields you are interested in, to see if you like the work. Why don't you read the book "Do What You Love, the Money Will Follow"? The world is your oyster. You may even end up starting your own business, and making even more money than you could as a professional. Keep your options open, and realize that you will probably work in many different fields during your lifetime. And try to keep your affluent parents happy without necessarily listening to them excessively.

Why do you feel like you have to decide now? I figured out what I wanted to be when I grow up when I went back to graduate school in my 40s.
If you want an MBA, you should shoot for a ranked program. That means getting an undergraduate degree (in anything) and working for another three to five years before applying. Do you really want to make decisions now about what you will be doing in ten years? You don't have to decide whether to become a lawyer or MBA for another six years or so.
For now, you should just be working to prepare yourself so that you are ready when options pop up in the future.
You may not like Math now -- but it is important for you to learn it. It will help you in the future. In the mean time -- keep your options open & don't worry so much about what you need to be.

First, lawyer and MBA are graduate school issues, and you haven't even started undergraduate school! (Although, it is never too early to dream and plan.)
Second, you would probably benefit the most (in college) from a business degree (journalism minor). With a business degree you would be capable of getting a job after undergrad, but you would also be prepared for either law school, MBA, or journalism (grad school).
Therefore, I suggest that you tear up the SATs and go to the best business school you can.

Well I think you should choose your occupation by deciding wether its something your very good at doing and enjoy doing. Your a very smart kid and I believe you shouldn't think about the paycheck, you should consider your job based on what you know and as far as I can see, you should really be a journalist, you never know, you might have a good influence on someone's life. But it all comes down to you I guess. I feel sympathy for you because I am also in high school and I felt the same way.

you could try learning literature in or book writing or you could learn history of literature. I don't know enough about you to make any further suggestions.
