How can I protect my estate, when I was just placed in a nursing home using medicaid and medicare?

I have a home and a trust fund, that I want to leave untouched that my late husband left me, I am scared the government will take it all after my time is up on my medicare. Is there anything I can do.....

Why should the taxpayers have to support you when you have money? I could care less if you have nothing to leave to your heirs.

Well, yes, they will - not all in a lump, but there will be expenses that you'll have to pay yourself. That's what money is for - to pay for the things you need.
