I wish I had a definite answer for you because I am somewhat the same way. I have not cried when in danger or threatened. I can suffer a nasty injury and no tears, but when I see something that moves me it is like an overwhelming emotional experience and I can weep. Some people are just more emotional and will weep tears of joy. We all weep in times of sadness and it is expected. It is just embarrassing when it happens and no one else feels the same way or to the same extent. For a woman they usually blame hormones and there may be something to that. I am not a woman but for some reason I am like you. I have heard that Beta Blockers used to calm the heart can blunt some over active stress responses. Perhaps in a small dose it might prevent it. I read about someone being cured of stage fright after one dose and going on stage. it is not addictive but can have side effects. I just have a gut feeling it would work.

Wow, awesome question! I would have to say pain. But I cry out of joy almost as much, when I am really happy and contented that is.

Pain.My life is filled with pain and has been for quite some time.I can't remember ever crying out in joy.
A few stolen hours of joy is nothing compared to the pain I have.

I think that both are very both are very important. What came to mind when I read this was a song by Frankie Beverly and Mase, "Joy and Pain". The gyst of it is joy and pain, is like sunshine and rain. We all need sunshine and we all need rain.

I've cried a lot of tears because of pain that I have felt but recently most of my tears have come from happiness and joy!!
