Pumpkins don't do well when it gets above 90F and frost forming around 40F will will also kill the plant. If you can grow watermelons where you're at, you can also grow pumpkins. The best thing you can do is plant after the frost free date, and replant after that harvest. In most places you can't have more then one harvest season per year, but if you live where frost does not occur, you're got it made. Experience is the best teacher. Give it a shot.

Living in a condominium/townhouse complex I don;t think they would be please to see pumpkins among the Palm Trees. Not that the Agent cares tot much about the place. Maybe I should try it. Brighten up the ground cover. Will keep the seed from the next one a I buy and see what happens.

No, I haven't grown pumpkins, but after reading the other answers, I might try that next year. It sounds like fun. There is a big pumpkin field not to far away that grows a bunch of them. They are really neat to see.

I had some volunteer plants come up in the spring. Just yesterday I harvested 7 or 8 good sized pumpkins from those volunteers! I will be carving them at Halloween time. I use my drill instead of a knife.

my daughter had a gorgeous patch last year with 11 big ones--her hub carved them all for the porch and they were awesome--a trick I never knew--if they start to look wilted just stick them in a sink of cold water for an hour or so and they pop right back, he said an old neighbor told him that years ago. the ones she planted this year all died.

I don't grow my own but I do buy them at a roadside stand like many people do, along with Indian Corn, small gourds for my wooden Halloween basket, etc.
