Why would you report a lost ss card to the FTC? That is like reporting a car accident to the air traffic controllers. They have nothing to do with it. What you need to do is find out where the local social security office is and go down there to get a replacement card.

Contact Social Security's website or else call them for a duplicate card. It's easy. And you need one.
This time, make a file called "Important Documents" for the originals for your ss card, birth certificate, transcripts, letters of recommendations, and pink slip for car ownership. Never use the originals; make copies for a backup file. Guess how I know this!

Take some ID (driver's license, birth certificate, passport) down to the local Social Security office and they will issue you a duplicate.

First, find out where the SS office is located in N.Y.
Then, just talk to the people over there. make sure that you tell them that you lost your SSC because of the risk of identity theft. you don't want someone else taking your identity especially if you are well off in life. Because they will take everything and anything that you own...
Good Luck
