Some of the answers...by many who probably haven't even been to Devon and Cornwall, and even those who have are misguided!
I am Cornish, and am at university, and I have a degree, but I believe I am in the minority of Cornish folk. Sorry! I think it could be due to mixed breeding that lowers the intelligence of most west country folk, and no, of course you don't hear the accent in the 'higher' jobs, many people from the west country aren't as bright...it is a just a fact, and isn't 'racist'! Good lord, people need to get off their high horses and just face reality! It is only the same as saying many red haired people have a temper, it might be a generalisation, but often there is truth there. So wake up everyone, and stop being so thick!

I was say that it is patently false as there are centres of higher and further education in these areas. Also several medium enterprises have relocated some or all of their offices to Devon and to a lesser extent Cornwall as the physical costs are less there.
You're new on here aren't you? Have you ever been to Devon or Cornwall? I have several times, in the course of my voluntary work. Why don't you go down in person and ask this question of several of the natives there and see what sort of response you get?

That is totally ignorant!
I am 100% cornish, have lived in cornwall all my life( i am 28), and am proud of it.
I love living here, its got clean air, lovely beaches, and i love bringing my kids up in an area where they can appreciate beauty and nature.
And as for being unintelligant....its cornish and devonshire, not cornish and devon people!
I am one of many of my friends who are off to Uni next year, maybe you should try learning something!

Of course not! Why on earth would you think that? People from Cornwall and Devon are every bit as intelligent as any other group in Britain and yes they do occupy higher employment. People sometimes imitate their accents and make them out to be thick, but in reality its a lovely soft accent spoken by perfectly intelligent people!

What a silly question.
As all UK subjects, they get a decent education and are lovely folk.
I suspect that you mean that most of them remain in Devon or Cornwall and enjoy the wonderful environment instead of rushing up to a big city and earning lots of money.
