Joseph McCarthy was a Senator from Wisconsin in the 1940s and 1950s. He became famous when his committee held hearings into the influence of communists in the government and Hollywood. He overreached when he expanded his hearings to the military. Ultimately, he was censured by the Senate.

Joe McCarthy was a U.S. Senator who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia.

He ruined a lot of innocent people's lives before people finally caught on and removed him.
