checked the starter checked the batt cables checked the ground checked the wires checked the fuses. we put the motor back in the truck. it cranked for a couple mins then it didnt do **** the dome light and headlights was working now everything is dead everything looks like it should but not getting any results can anyone give me some leads?

Check the fusible links at the starter. They are small wires coming from the starter to the rest of the electrical system and have white plastic connectors between the small wire and a larger wire. You can pull on them 1 at a time and if their bad they will pull apart. Also make sure their is nothing in between the engine and transmission

the main DC input to the cab of the truck comes off the starter on these trucks be sure all of the connections were clear of the exhaust manifolds this is a common mistake when the wires are not replaced into the looms or run over the stater even a small burn in the coating will cause a dead power lose

That old truck may have the fusable links connected at the sarter positive terminal, may be worth checking for a burned link..

Fusible links may have fried or could be a bad ignition switch. Check for any pinched wires also or signs of burnt wiring.

try checking wires on starter,silinoid one may have come loose but not all the way off.
