Basically they were unable to score more runs than the Dimaondbacks in each of the 3 playoff games this year.
The Cubs were 4 for 32 (.125) with 1 run, 1 RBI, 4 walks, 10 strikeouts and 17 left on base in game 1.
They were 8 for 35 (.228) with 4 runs, 4 RBI, 5 walks, 13 strikeouts and 18 left on base in game 2.
In game 3 they were 7 for 31 (.226), 1 run, 1 RBI, 5 walks, 4 strikeouts and 19 left on base.
I don't care what the "experts" say about how defense wins games. If you're a baseball team and your team has a .198 batting average with 6 runs in a best of 5 playoff series you don't deserve to win.

I don't know who this is for sure, or could even care why they played like they did. But it seemed to me, is that they were playing it like it was threw away game, some how I don't think the Chicago Cubs will ever get sick and tired, of this long drought of not winnign the World Series, either way I think they would stink next year. 2003, they had a better post season run, and they deserved to go to the playoffs that year, but certainly not this year. Now I predicted, it is going to be a long off season, and now Jim Hendry is going to be scratching his head, wondering where it all went wrong. They did thier parting to soon, the Chicago Cubs won nothing in the playoffs, and they got what they deserved.

They faced a better team. Cubs didn't choke, they were simply defeated.
Don't get me wrong though, the Cubs hitting line up certainly is better than the D-Backs, but D-Backs' defense and pitching are far better in this series. These young punks from Arizona didn't give a sh*t what people say about them, they just go out and play baseball, and they won. Enough said.
Basic principle of baseball: team work, trust your teammates, money won't guarantee win.
Hope the Cubs can regroup for next year

It's because they're the Chicago Cubs. I don't think a history lesson is needed. The Cubs cannot win in October; somehow, someway they will find a way to squander a lead or have some outlandish, freak play ruin their postseason.

When your top hitters (Soriano, Lee & Rameriz) account for what amounts to ZERO offense in the post season it's next to impossible score runs much less win. Lou taking out Zambrano after only 6 innings in game 1looks even worse now because he was supposed to come back for game 4.

They hit .191 as a team. Can't win or give your team a chance to if you don't hit.

They didn't hit and they didn't pitch. When you can't do these two things, you're not going to win. A stupid goat has nothing to do with it.

They didn't hit! At all!!! When that happens, you lose! That's what went wrong.
