It seems to me that physicists believe that it DOES end, or not infinite, which is perhaps even harder to comprehend. But space and time curves and, like the surface of the earth, it has no edge, no center but not infinite.

It is assumption.
A result of the Copernican principle, which basically says space is homogeneous - no centre and no edge.
However, this is a philosophical assumption and not a proven fact. It is a necessary assumption to make the Big Bang 'work', which is obviously a good idea for then many evolutionists out there.
However, others do not agree that the Copernican principle is correct. Maybe the universe does have a centre and an edge. Much more likely in my view.
Dr Russell Humphries has an alternative cosmology - using the same science (relativity) - but with different assumptions and different conclusion.

Space can't never end,we live in a quantum universe with a maximum and a minimum size.
It is an incident that will run it's course go out of existence and never occur again.

Space never ends because it never starts, and that issue cannot exist,
it s like saying "how long is string?" -that has no value. Also, infinity is an
impossibility unless it s imaginary -which it is. If your mind summarily tosses aside the above (no not THAT above), remember -pink elephants aint on
other side of moon, and can never be, unless via illusion. But we humans
have limit to illusory imagination!

this is a very abstract question and takes a great deal of thinking for it to make sense
let me try to explain
space in itself is nothing
space is not expanding
it is always there
you can not see it nor touch it because it is nothing but empty
"space"
the universe is expanding
but not space
because how can nothing essentially "expand"
space has nothing to "expand"
and there are no boundaries
to which it can expand into
so if we were to launch a rocket and keep it going forever
it would just keep going and going because there is space
for it to travel

I'm not shure. It is definitely a hard thing to rationalize, but think about it. If it were to end then there would have to be some thing after the end of the universe...

Yes it is. Its hard for humans to understand, since everything we are familiar with has a beginning and an end.
Its like many things to do with the universe, its not gut-level logical.

because it is thought that space is 4 dimensional, we cant comprehend that. were used to 3 spatial dimensions, length, width, and depth. 4 dimensional objects have another dimension perpendicular to all of those.

I am sure it ends somewhere but what is beyond that is anybody's guess. Nothingness is a concept that our mind cannot conceive. Though it is fun to think about it, argue about it, discuss about it, analyse it.....don't let it bother you. :)
