Why do some people write horrible things in posts?

I was reading a yahoo news article today, and most of the comments were constructive, but there were a few that were really messed up and downright vicious. You see this on Yahoo answers too. People leaving notes that have little to do with the person's question. They just want to write something foul or mean. Are they kids? Are they just immature? I'd love to know your thoughts...

Don't make the assumption that they are kids. Immature? Yes. Some people who are having problems in their lives just take things out on people here to make themselves feel better. They want to vent and complain, and they hurt peoples feelings in the process but to them they feel better so that's all that matters. This may not be the case sometimes, and I mean that sometimes people just have very strong opinions and get hostile when someone thinks differently. There could be a lot involved when it comes that, but you are right, it happens a lot...a lot more than I'd like to see. But hey, what are you gonna do, right?

Some of them might be kids, but i think a majority of them are people who are just down right hostile. I know I can get hostile but not like the posts you see on here. Some people are just bored and don't have lives, which is kind of sad. The best we can do is report them and move on with our lives.

sometimes people are cruel for the sake of their own pain, they are miserable individuals and misery loves company.
don't let anyone steel your joy or happiness. pray for all of the ellena rigbies of the world.
