Average price runs about $100 - $120 dollar range with the scent sack removed, but you can find them cheaper and sometime for free if you check the paper or animal shelter. Some people get ferret's not knowing how much time and effort they take to raise right, so end up either giving them away, or taking them to a shelter. Would highly recommend you pay the extra money though for having the scent gland removed.

you can adopt one for around 50-75 at SPCA's. for one bought at a store it will be close to 100-150. i'd check the SPCA first but dont get an older one if this is your first ferret. my first one i spent 159$ and he was 7 weeks old which is the youngest you can get them. that way i learned a lot about them and how to bond with them from an early age and biting is easier to break. plus babys dont bite as hard and adults. as a tip, when they nip make a high pitch welp noise, it lets them know it hurt you. i wouldnt advise going to petco or petsmart bc they arent handled very much(ive worked for both). go to a family owned petstore, most carry Marshall ferrets which are a reputational breeder. they all come altered and descented. you can tell by 2 tattooed dots on the right ear. most are already tested for adv ask for proof of testing when you buy or if not ask if they would refund if when tested they are positive. adv can be deadly. another thing about chain pet stores is the over crowding. find one whos alert and healthy. no missing hair, diarreha, watering eyes, runny nose, etc. ask to take it out. put it on the floor see how it acts. it should be curious and smelling around not nervous. a bottle brush tail is fine(puffed up fur on the tail), it just means hes excited. after youve had it for a while then i would say adopt one, by then you should have enough experience to deal with an older one and how to stop biting.
as for cages, mine is out approx. 15 hours a day. so he has a smaller cage. 5x3 cage thats used as a sleeping/litter place.
good luck

For just the ferret, $100-150, but supplies and vet care will of course end up making it much more.

$75 to $200, but remember that they are prone to adrenal disease, which can cost a good $1,200 to cure. They need high protein food so food costs will be high, and they need a secure cage BIG ENOUGH for them, which will run you between $200 and $500.
They are not cheap pets.

At Petco they are priced at 130$.
Prepare to spend at least another 100$s on the cage, litter boxes, litter, water bottle, food bowl, food, bedding, hammock, vaccinations, etc, etc, etc.
Good luck!
