That's exactly it. American thanksgiving is about making friends with the natives and harvest. In Canada, we have to stock up on our food stuff earlier as our winters are a little harder than yours and across the entire country. That's why we have it at this time of year.

In Canada we celebrate the completion of a successful harvest, while in the Us you celebrated the pilgrim story. Doesn't matter when we celebrate as long as we remember to be thankful for all out blessings.
