Why do people get 'cool' around me when i show them my expensive stuff? For instance expensive cars, money.. when they find out i have these items they become 'cool' as in distant, odd reaction. Not everyone does this, most dont but ones closest to me who i think would be happy for me, become distant after they find out i have all this money and nice things, whats the explanation for this?

They probably feel you're trying to shove it up their noses. You may not be trying to hurt them but you are. Some people are shamed by the fact that the best that they have isn't worth so much. You flash all this stuff and it hurts their pride.

I know, I know- but you can't change the way people take things.

Maybe they think you are trying to say you're better than they are or something.

I mean, if you just got a hot new car, they should be happy for you, but if your money and the things you buy is all you talk about or want to share with them when they come around, that would be a good reason for them to act "cool".

2 possibilities i can think of:

1) The person thinks he can gain some of your items if he is nice and 'cool' around you.
2) Some people have a bad poker face with jealousy so they really act nice around you and try to assure you there life wouldent be no different if they possesed the same items you have.

They're eitehr jealous, or put off because they think you are bragging. Best to reveal what you have naturaly, that way wou will know for sure. Don't tell them out of the blue that you just got this expensive thing, etc etc.

Don’t be a show off, how would you feel if you had little means and your friend came by showing you new expensive cars / watches … every day, I don’t think you would be too happy either.. Having money you have to learn to be Modest and don’t show off.

Because there just using you to become popular themselves. There not really your friends if they treat you like that. Find people who like you for you and not for what you have.

It is not necessarily what they want to do, it is what they are attracted to. They may not want your stuff, this is what they want to associate themselves with, it is human-nature. Just watch out for the gold diggers.
