I have a 1982 Yamaha virago 750cc engine. I dropped it the other day. Bent the shift lever inwards. Fixed that. Was able to fire it up then drove it around the block a couple times yesterday. But today it just cranks and cranks until the battery goes low. Will not turn over. I tried every position on the petcocks to get it gasoline, choke open choke closed, added some oil just in case, everything, it will not turn over. Thoughts?

Spark plugs and cables seem to be fine. I don't know what/where the coil is. Fuel seems to be flowing freely from petcocks. Don't know where the fuel filter is.

Of course it's in "RUN". Duh. The alternator wouldn't go otherwise.

I don't know if I flooded it or not. Can you please elaborate on how to deal with that? What do you mean by pull the plugs and look? What am I looking for, exactly? Should I replace the spark plugs?

If it won't fire check to see if you have spark or a wire off. Check the coil & connections. Go from there

Your bike will crank over with the kill switch in the off position. It just won't fire the spark plugs.
Check for spark.
Remove the spark plugs from the engine.
Insert a spark plug into a spark plug cap and lay the threads of the plug against a metal part of the engine.
Kill switch on run, key on, press the start button.
The spark plug should fire.
If they both fire, than the problem is most likely fuel related.
It's possible the plugs got semi-fouled when the bike fell over and flooded the engine.
Try changing the plugs.

first check for spark at the pluggs. If no spark, then go to the ignition module. and check for pulse from the trigger.
if you halve pulse then more than likely the module is bad. but dont discard the fact that you mght have a bad wire some place, not normal for the coils to go bad like that. Check for
power at the module. Make sure the ignition switch is good, the run switch is good. I can not tell you for sure what is wrong
with the bike wth out more info. but on what you posted this is the best i can come up with. god luck

And then pull the fuel line off and check to make sure gas is flowing out of the petcock. Might of dislodged some crap in your tank that clogged your petcock. See if gas is coming out of your fuel filter.

Check to make sure that the engine kill switch on the handlebars is in the "RUN" position.

seems like you may have flooded it before you ran the batt. down........
coulpe of new plugs, fully charged batt. and try not to flood it again......if in doubt, gas or not pull the plugs and look........and adjust accordingly.........
