As far as I know salsa is not a "cooked" dish. For the BEST salsa, use only FRESH ingredients, NEVER canned. 2 large, ripe tomatoes, seeded and finely diced 1 small medium sweet onion (Vidalia), finely minced 3 cloves garlic, finely minced 2-3 jalapeño peppers, finely minced (scrape seeds into the mixing bowl. And use gloves for handling these! I'M NOT KIDDING!!!) 1/2 bunch of cilantro, finely minced Juice of 1/2 lime Salt to taste Mix together in a bowl. Drain off any extra liquid. Serve with chips.

salsa is NOT a dip, but I like french onion or avadvo dip.
Dip-a soft mixture into which food may be dipped
Salsa- : a spicy sauce of tomatoes, onions, and hot peppers
Salsa means SAUCE NOT DIP!!
