I'm kinda confused with what this means, can you give me an example of how ignorance is bliss?

When your with someone and you are happy and then you find out that they are a cheating a*hole....you were ignorant b/c you didnt know and you were happier when you were ignorant

When you're oblivious to the negativity or danger, or any adversity, it brings a sense of bliss that doesn't come to those who are in a constant state of worry. Forrest Gump epitomizes the idea that ignorance is bliss. Always happy no matter what situation he's in, because he's oblivious... "something jumped up and bit me!"

some examples would be finding out your husband/wife is cheating on you or finding out your daughter/son is having indiscriminate sexual encounters.... Is ignorance really bliss in these situations? no, but knowing the truth can hurt like crazy, so we mistakenly believe that we would be better off if we just didn't know.

Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Just look at any pot bellied fool in a tank top that's too short, faded shorts that are falling down, flip flops and a smile missing most of it's teeth as he raises up a warm can of Busch beer for a swig.
Happy cuz he doesn't know any better.

that's what i always say when i'm outa the loop on something....if i'm with a group of people and there's an inside joke going around and i don't know about it ....so when people start lookin' at me i just say really sarcastically " ignorance is bliss guys" and smile quite calmy and relaxed.....then everybody laughs cause it's the truth and they know i don't give a ****....so we're all good. :)

Often it is easier to not know the truth. Think about eating a hamburger. You just want to enjoy your burger, you don't want to know about all of the gruesome details that are involved in a live cow becoming a hamburger patty.

For example.........people die in africa of poverty everyday. People elsewhere may not want to know about this because it stops them from being burdened by a guilty conscience. They are ignorant of the situation and therefore they are quite happy.

like if you had a party while your folks were out of town and you parents NEVER found out about it...they wouldn't know so they would be ignorant about it and think you were a good kid while they were away so they would be happy or full of bliss.

It means that not knowing something is better than knowing the truth. Like for example, when I child thinks that their parents are their biological parents when in reality, they were adopted.....it would be better for them not knowing that they were adopted...at least not when they are little.
