Is it illegal to sell clothes that arent authentic? Say some knock off Lacoste or something. If it is , is there any way around it? I wanna start a retail store selling that type of stuff. like Gucci purses and stuff. (not the real Gucci)

there is no way around it. lacoste in particular is cracking down on knock off items., and more and more stores are getting shut down for it. if you are lucky enough to get that much stuff through customs id be worried because you may get a search warrant soon after.
the bottom line is that the us now sees counterfeit items as a link to terrorism, and they are serious about it. also companies are upset that people are getting look - alikes at low prices and they think it takes away from their profits. in reality if some is buying a knock off they would have never bought a real one in the first place.
so, no- you get caught you can be sued by each company whos merchandise you were selling knocks offs for upto $1million. also they can order you to turn over any profits made selling knock offs, plus additional fines from the governement, and felony counterfeiting charges. i know everybody needs a hustle, but its just not worth it- trust me i know.

It is only illegal if you claim they are the real thing. If you do something like putting a label on that says Guci (missing a 'c') that's OK, but if you claim they are the real thing, then you are counterfeiting and that's illegal, plus you would probably get sued.

As long as you state that they are copycats, it's legal.
