Trying to do what I feel is best for my constituents. Not what my party is telling me to do.

trying not be be influenced to vote a certain way because of the million dollar a year salary as an adviser or consultant waiting for me with the company that is helped by me voting on a bill .
not following the lets give half the tax dollars to the military.way of thinking
doing for the people not big business.
trying to avoid lobbyists
