I have a mixed opinon on this issue. I've been moshing a few times at various events and it does contribute to the mood of a concert when kept under control. In fact there was a brief mosh at my homecoming dance last night, however it only last a couple minutes and we were a bit conservative with what we were doing to make sure no one got hurt. And that's all well and good. But, when I attended wilder events, you could sense that people were trying to break free of the pit. People have died doing this, and I think that it should be kept on a shorter leash.

I know the risks when I attend this type of concert, I think that regulation or prohibition of this would be taking it too far.
It is up to each individual to remain alert and in control to protect themselves in an aggressive concert situation.

I have no problem with moshing, but I do have a problem when it's not at the right kind of concert. Moshing at an Overkill or Metallica show is expected- but moshing at a Los Lobos gig is stupid. I think people should be able to decide if they want to actually be in a mosh pit- not get dragged into one unexpectedly. I've always thought they should have a designated moshing area at most metal gigs. Like maybe a fenced off area to the side of the stage. Not on front since most moshers are not even interested in watching the show- they want to pound on eachother.

The problem is that people will mosh whether or not it is prohibited. For some acts and genres........its a part of the experience (could you image a Pantera, Anthrax or MSI show WITHOUT moshing? No.)

When you by tickets to a certain band and you are a fan of them, you should be aware of the type of crowd that it draws. If you go to Ozzfest or Projekt Revolution, yeah, expect mosh pits to spring up, etc

People should be on their guard, and be quick to move. Accidents and injuries happen.

There is no way that 100% crowd control can be enforced and to do so would only provoke more anger and resistance.

My daughter had a close call when she was caught in a mosh pit at a concert. She was standing near some people when they started moshing and she got caught in it. She was pretty badly trampled until someone saw her and pulled her away. I'm not for banning mosh pits but people need to be careful and watch for signs that they're getting out of hand. I've told both my girls to make sure they can get their hands above their heads in case they get pulled down. They also need to watch for groping. Not only have people been killed or injured in mosh pits, there have also been cases of women getting raped.

No, I think moshing should stay. Yeah sometimes it can get out of control but, I think they should stay but be kept under control. Moshing and crowed surfing will always happen at concerts.

I don't believe moshing should be prohibited anywhere. It is a form of expression, I guess you could say. If people don't want to be in a mosh pit...they can stay away from it.

then maybe there should be a sign "enter at your own risk" if you go in you have accepted the consequences of your choice.
