I've always wanted to be a writer but I just realized, I have no imagination. LOL. I like, can't think of any ideas for a book. I get all A's in Language Arts - it's so easy and I just love to write.
I really want to write a book but I can't think of any ideas. I'm not creative or imaginative at all. =/
So anyways, does your.. inspiration, I guess, come from creative pictures or does it come to you in a dream, etc..?

it comes from what you think, even a simple little thing like a handbag can make you imagine a big story. i get ideas by others living, my own living, our differences, and the happenings in the world

I'm a military fiction author and have a heck of a time coming up with new ideas. I usually put myself in the position of my book counterpart and ask myself, "What kind of targets would I like to face next?" That usually works. I also get plenty of ideas from dreams, pictures, TV, movies, books, and music. Just ask some close friends. They might have some suggestions for you. I started writing books after an interesting assignment from a computer teacher I liked back in high school.

I agree with two other answers to find some inspiration and write about what you like or look in magazines/papers for inspiration. The first stories people often write are about something that has happened to them or someone they know. You could write about a current issue, the credit crunch, and how a family start to lose their wealth through job loss and investments. It could be emotional and dramatic with perhaps the perspective taken from a teenage persons view point.

I write fiction, so I read lots of non fiction. I also watch the National Geographic shows.
For instance: Is the reason we don't have more human fossils because they are underwater from the end of the last ice age? What was life like when people we're retreating from their cave homes?
Or: I read a book about chimpanzees learning sign language. Could we ask them philosophical questions? What would they say?
My current book is about homeless people. I'm reading lots of phsychology and economic books.
You just have to see what interests you and ask new questions about it.

My ideas usually come from school. People are interesting to observe and they're a great source of ideas too. I get my characters from my classmates, because when you see through their outer layer, you get some interesting characters to work with. And then, of course, you can build upon their existing personality to create something original.
As for plot details, read some books or go watch movies and steal their little details here and there so you can build a conglomeration of ideas and your own storyline.

Technical writing is as important as creative writing. You may be better at technical writing. Have you considered it?
