They'll play for the Western division final but will lose to Anaheim of San Jose.

They need to prove that last year was no fluke and they may well do it and repeat as division champs (or at least close to the top). However they play in the toughest division in the NHL and with the unbalanced schedule it makes it that much more unbalanced.
For example I think that Detroit will finish with more points but they are NOT a better team. They just get a lot more games against easier opposition.
Luongo is obviously the key to success but I think that we have a better back-up this year in Sanford so that will help. Scoring will continue to be the main concern but I have a feeling that Naslund (and perhaps Morrison too) will have better years this year and that will help. Also the new rookies are going to inject some pace and scoring.
I can't believe what I'm saying but I actually agree with the Leaf fan who says that they will lose in the Western Conference final. San Jose seems to have the complete package but if we can score more goals (which looks like a real possibility) we'll be right up there with them.

As a Wild fan, I have a grudging respect for the Canucks. I think the Canucks are a good team in a very difficult division and they definitely have a good shot to make a run.
Luongo is a great goaltender and made some awesome saves last night against the Flames.

As a diehard Canucks fan, I think that if we can get more offense, and Luongo stays healthy (which really scared me last night with his collision with Langkow), this can be a Cup-caliber team. But the offense is a huge key.

Love the canucks.
They will have a good year but will not win the conference and will go out second round in the playoffs.
They are just missing something that takes teams to the big show, Stanley Cup.
Personally I think they are missing that big leader aka yzerman, sakic, messier.

Most people seem to think so; I am not one of them. I see them finishing in 9th or 10th in the West.
