I want to try out for my schools hockey but do u think they will let me play since I am a girl? There is no girls on the team and dont think they ever had a girl on the team. I am just as good of a skater as most of the boys so do think they will let me join? I dont want to go to the coach and ask him if I can join and then have him say no.

I think you should be able to do whatever you want to do in life. You shouldn't go through life putting barriers in your way but open your mind to all possibilities. Realize though that, in Hockey, Football or many other contact sports size, build, and strength naturally means there is a difference and although I don't think it would be in your best interest to compete against the boys or men in that sport you certainly should be able to find other females/girls that enjoy that hobby also. It's not weird to want to play or to play but mentally you should understand the differences and also understand what is REASONABLE to do. Girls and do most anything boys can do and should be able to do and in many cases can do it better or at least contribute to sports by diversity. The trouble comes in when you or any other person expects that the rules should be changed or altered to accommodate the differences between girls and boys as that creates friction and not sportsmanship. I know that you aren't wanting to do that but are just interested in knowing is it weird and I don't think it is I think it's great you have an interest and hope you get better and better at it.

If you show him that you got skillz (lol), then yeah he should let you play. Don't let the boys intimidate you. Show your stuff, and get picked because you can play. Then do good and show them that they should let more girls on the team because they will actually help the team get better.

ask him and if he says no just say let me prove it to you i can play with the guys. I think there is nothing wrong with a girl that wants to play a guys sport

yeah there's no reason for them to say no
if you're good they have to let you play
and girls can play hockey too

I know of many females that play hockey. No reason not to do it!

ya, you can definetly do it! go for it! i know a girl who's on the football team... they'll let you join if they think your good enough, which you probably are ;] good luck!
