The wasn't something that happens all the time. And the pitcher was obviously affected by them, he could hardly see. And i think Torre should have spoken to the ump about that b4 he got out of hand, as it did

Of course they should have . Too bad a smart Yankee fan in the stands didn't have the wherewithal to throw a baseball on the field because that would have stopped the game as would a frisbee or a beachball .

I was under the impression that ALL the players were affected by the bugs. What did you expect the Umpires to do? Send Mother Nature an E-mail telling her to stop and desist!

The game must go on! The bugs were bothering both teams equally so it was fair. Besides, the better team prevailed-just proves that the Indians have a higher level of concentration.

The only reason the bugs (midges or canadian soilders) affected him is just for that reason... HE IS A ROOKIE. A good experienced player like Carmona can focus on what needs to be done. Listen to what real experienced baseball players had to say about the bugs:
‘‘I don't know about them,’’ Kenny Lofton said. ‘‘You'd have to ask them. All I can say is I was fine with it.’’ (and he had one in his eye!)
‘‘They were all over the place,’’ Sizemore said. ‘‘You just try to focus, block everything out.’’
‘‘It was bothering them so much, I tried not to show it,’’ third baseman Casey Blake said.

The crew chief has the final say in those matters. But since neither manager complained about it, the game went on.

I am enjoying how you yankee fans are crying over spilled bugs! Last time I saw, Cleveland had to deal with them as well.

Get a clue; learn how to use it...then get over it.

No he shouldn't have. They were effecting the Indians in the inning before that and they seemed to do fine. People need to stop crying about this, the Indians are a better team period.
