yes,
most of the 'Christians' today don't practice the things Christ was about.
cons are big supporters of abstinence only education and one of the biggest providers of that 'education' is called Sex Respect. which has been criticized for racist and derogatory remarks against poor people.
I'm not a part of organized religion. too often the members of those religions say god agrees with everything they believe- I tend to think its not them following god, but them shaping god in their image.

But, then, so have some Liberals, atheists, Muslims, Buddhists, etc. etc.
I believe that mankind is on some sort of path to enlightenment--but it is SLOW GOING....Maybe someday we will all live in PEACE and SERENITY, but no time soon.
Back when I was a practicing Catholic, the question was asked about "Proselytising" (like, "Why don't Catholics go door to door like JWs" or "How do we convince people that this is the "One, True Religion?"), and the answer I remember that made the most sense---(and is an answer to "how to let people know your political persuasion, job, life style--just about anything--is the "best")--is just to LIVE the best life possible, which will in turn make you happy and serene, and when people ask you "why?" you are so happy and serene, you can explain your belief system. They may or may not "buy" that answer anyway, but at least you have given it a shot.
I find hypocrisy one of the biggest turn-offs ever! And I also feel that living as Jesus suggested--treating your neighbor as you would wish to be treated, turning the other cheek to insults, etc., giving alms to the poor, and helping anyone in a bad situation, regardless of their religion or ethnicity, would bring peace and serenity. But a great many followers of Jesus--the so-called "Christians"--have their own interpretation of His words. Oh well, it is not up to me to judge......

The only one of those vices that is a real problem among conservative Christians is intolerance. The rest you are just pulling out of thin air. But I am frequently appalled by the level of intolerence exhibited by so-called Christians. They have forgotten one of Christs best teachings. Judge not, lest ye be judged. It is not any Christian's place to determine whether or not someone is going to hell or not. So in that regard they have strayed far from his path. But no one is perfect. Churches are not full of saints but sinners. But the great loophole is that being judgemental is the one thing you can judge people on. cause I've been judged. Just my interpretation. I think they are just to afraid to make moral decisions for themselves so they let someone else tell them what to do. Then they feel compelled to force others to live by the same rules they have forced on themselves because they were to weak to decide what was right and wrong on their own.

1. The ones who get all the air time sure do.
2. I have known some decent people who identify themselves as Christian conservatives and do practice those values, but as with everyone else that is taken on an individual basis.
3. The ones with political clout, the ones on tv, and lots of their followers seem to have been.

Typically assinine left-wing talking points. As a matter of fact, intolerance, hatred, oppression, racism, greed and classism are far more representative of the American left than of Christians.
Also the standard way in which the left presents an issue. Notice how the beginning "question" plants in ones mind every evil imaginable about Christians. Yet of course it's just an innocent question. But next, "Have these Christians..." All of a sudden that innocent question has become a statement! Yep, those evil damn Christians. Now that we know how truly awful they are, do y'all think they've been seduced by the world? What began as a question has suddenly been presented as a fact. Typical way in which the left frames an argument.
And isn't it strange that the only religion which promotes murder, beheading, rape, torture, pedophelia, "honor" killings, suicide bombings, stoning and virtually anything else one can imagine is given a free pass by the left. Isn't it strange that it's Christianity which they choose to smear? When is the last time you heard anyone on the left stand up and talk about the extraordinary evil of Islam?

Jesus preached against maximum of those (there isn't something incorrect with wealth provided you do not exchange into grasping and ate up via it, i think, and use you cash for good issues). How people can say they love and settle for Jesus, yet be against his message is amazingly contradictory. a minimum of that's what i think of. once you're Christian, love and stick to Jesus's practices and messages. God bless you too. take excitement in existence and do good on your fellow adult men, like Christ might prefer.

Where do you come up with this stuff.
I'm a Christian. I'm not perfect. But I have oppressed no one. I have not tortured anyone. Racism knows no color or religion...as many of your posts prove.
I try to live my life the way I think it should be lived. When I make mistakes I ask for forgiveness and try harder. I only have to answer to one person about that forgiveness and that is my Lord.
But mine is not a religion, it is a relationship.
I'll tell you what though, the first time I see any leader of my faith stand up and call for genocide of another race/religion or advocate the torture and murder of someone who doesn't believe the way I do I will denouce that religion loud and clear.
But never my God.
Muhammad vs. Jesus
"And if anyone will not recieve you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town." (Matthew 10:14)
"whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him" (Bukhari 9.84.57)

Certainly seems true of the Christian right. I guess its ok for them to let others do wrong for them. Sort of like the relationship between the 'rules bound' Samaria and the Ninja assassinaters
Here's a little story from London, England.
A Muslim woman got hired as a cashier in a grocery which also sold beer and liquor. Being very devout, she would not 'sell' booze so a different cashier would have to come and work the till. Isn't that silly.
Anyway, out devout Christians play the same mind games with our murderous fight in Iraq.

No....what a wonderful light you have shed of Christianity.....
It is remarks like these, that make some Christians feel the need to defend themselves, and in the process, people with your mindset, think of them as possessing all the negative qualities you named.
I am very secure in who I am and what kind of Christian I am, so I feel no need to make you see things my way....
Free will is one of the greatest gifts God has given us...
You also, are free to feel as you wish. You will not harm true Christians and you will validate those who hate us....such is the world today.
