How about Philadelphia--only a short train ride to NY if you want to take weekend trips. If so, then Temple University has an excellent school of communications and theater. You can even spend one semester studying in London.

I have 4 family members that went/are there. One works on air for a major TV network, one (still in school) is doing production work for the University's multi-million dollar radio station, one just finished an on air internship for a cable news show, one has worked in LA and NY booking acts for the Comedy Club.
