I just bought something from the UK and it says it's 39.97 pounds. How much is that in US currency?

It wasn't a bid, it was for a magazine subscription that is printed in the UK and money isn't a problem. I'm just curious about how much I spent.

Around $80. Shipping will be extra of course.

Wouldn't it have been a good idea to find out what a British pound is worth in US money BEFORE you made the bid?

$81.68 plus shipping, if appropriated. They have to round it to the nearest penny.
