I'm about to purchase a 1GB RAM drive (or w/e the 2nd part of the name is) and I'd like to know how to change it. I have a basic outlook on how to, because my tech teacher told me how without opening a computer to actually.. show me. Now, he said it's easy, it seems easy, I'd just like to know what to look for so I don't pull out the wrong thing, heh. I mean buying a 1GB for my Dell (standard) 2400 desktop? I've had it for 4 or 5 years now, so I mean the guy at Best Buy told me which one to get. I know which one. But yeah, I'd just like to know what to look for and all. If you can help, thank you.

well... if you know what a RAM looks like, just try to ground yourself first to avoid static and just try 2 remove it... its really easy... and if you're still scared to try it, try to watch this video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=zDh9eEfZU54

Hi. The RAM slots are located under a cover on the bottom of most Dells. Usually two small Phillips screws and the RAM is exposed. Ground yourself to metal on the inside before touching the RAM. This may help. http://repair4laptop.org/notebook_ram_memory_upgrade.html

on the bottom there should be a screw that removes one smaller cover. Unscrew it and plug in the new ram. ( most laptops have ram that you cant remove, but have a expansion slot where you can plug in more ram.)
