i can't imagine buying expensive clothes for a child... they grow so fast and frankly, i'm not rich. possibly when my children were older and not growing as quickly i would maybe buy them some good key pieces.
but having been a wanting teenager... i feel for my parents trying to buy me designer clothes from the time i was 12. but when i was 17 i had to start buying my own clothes and i still did spend ALL of my money on clothes but now i am MUCH cheaper and don't care about labels.

I would consider the age of the child and the financial situation of the parents. If the kid is too young to care, the designer clothes are really just to make the parents feel better about their parenting. If the kids are old enough (12 or 13+), maybe they could receive nice clothing as a holiday gift, or as a reward. If the parents can't afford it,they should have a frank talk with their child about how clothing doesn't make the person, character does.

I don't understand the question. Is the child a relative? Are you expecting some kind of return? Are you looking to offset child support?
