i think its something to do with the brain if not its so adults can drop there kids off because they ahve to go too work & there covering it all up ;-) haha

You didn't say what year you are in. Usually the older kids start earlier so they're home in time to watch the younger kids. Also, the buses can't take all the kids to school at once, so elementary, middle, and high schools start and end times are staggered. If you ever have to get a little kid ready in the morning you will understand why elementary school starts later!

What are you moaning about? England it starts at around 8.45 - 9am and finishes between 3 and 4. In many countries it can start as early as 7am with the junior kids finishing around 12ish and the seniors about 2pm. In some countries you have to go six days a week! (Israel for example).
It also prepares you for the world of work - get used to it - you've another 50 years to go at least - and holidays are far less!

In the U.K school times coincide with daylight hours - they didn't want all the kids walking home in the afternoon in the dark (that's when kids were allowed/able to walk)
Coincides with what used to be the standard 9 to 5 working day.
More info is absorbed in the morning than the afternoon.

it has been proven that your brain is at its most effective for the first half of the day. this is why some schools start expecially early and finish at around 2.30 - 3pm.

so it doesn't end so fast....why go to school at 11:00 and get home at 7:00 at night....
