I don't think it matters. What is important is the story. It is told in a time-line but the time between events is not told and was not necessary for Greek audiences who all ready knew the story and went to see it as a religious experience. The Neo-Classicists would say it took place in one day. Others argue that one year is the time limit of the "unities" but I say who cares? The story gets told, eveyone understands it and learns from it and has an emotional catharsis from it and that is more than getting your drachma's worth.
