Aside from walking, and that really can be the best because traffic is HEINOUS most of the time, I'm going to say the Deuce bus. It stops at all the major casinos and costs a couple of bucks a trip. Followed by cabs, then the monorail. Renting a car is not really advised for the average tourist. You'd spend more time sitting in it looking at the facades of the hotels more than much else. (I do rent a car because I have friends spread out from Henderson to Summerlin, and it would cost me more to cab it around to them, but I have the advantage of knowing some back roads to avoid the Strip traffic.) Going to Hoover Dam or the GrandCanyon - there's tours leaving all the time, and that's still more efficient than driving.

Really walking is. There is so much traffic on the strip. Even the hotel shuttles are expensive! MGM was $14 from airport to hotel, one way! You may be able to find a car rental cheap like alamo, but then again time management will play apart of how much you'll be in a car...and taxi..sitting in traffic will get expensive. If you do rent a car know where you are going to go and try to use the common streets as least as possible. Good thing is all hotels have free valet, but it is always good to tip..remember these people are only getting minimum wage. Everything is in walking distance range..and with all the sites...you won't even realize how much your walking..plus if the weather is nice...its not a big deal!

We stayed at Imperial Palace and walked up and down the strip and it wasn't that bad. We went downtown to watch the light show and the bus pass for the whole day was $5. When we landed at the airport we got a ticket for the shuttle service. It was $12 to and from the airport. The day we got there they were waiting a minimum of an hour for cabs. The day before we left we just called the shuttle service and requested a pick up time.

I'd say if there are different things you want to do in certain parts of the city do them all when you're there to cut down on travel expenses. Walking is fine if you're on the strip but if you aren't taxi fares can get expensive. The city bus system is average, not exceptional. A lot of taxi drivers know how to get to and from the strip and the airport and little else. I once had to drive around for an hour before the driver figured out the address I was going to. He shut off the meter but charged me $40 when I should have paid about $12. If you're going to catch a cab you're better off calling the cab company and telling them where you want to go than to trust the driver. Be careful for cab drivers who go out of their way to make your trip longer than it should be. That happens a lot.

The monorail goes up and down the strip.
It starts at the MGM and goes up to the Sahara.
A all day pass is about the same cost as a one time taxi ride.
Warning, at night, if your alone, there are some questionable people hanging around in the cars.
So if alone go during the day time hours.
Otherwise, you can rent a car for around $20 a day or more at the airport.

If you plan on sticking to the strip walk or either use the bus, day passes are fairly cheap. Also if you want to visit sites outside of the strip rent a car, but just for that day, its usually cheaper than a weekly rental.

when you get to Vegas you probably won't leave your hotel. If you do...take a cab. It's not cheap but you can get to where you want to go. Their mass transit sucks like ours. Tried it once. Never again. If you are a high roller the casino will provide you with anything you want. If you are a low roller like me I stay downtown where I can walk around and enjoy the sights..

Take the duece bus. $5.00 for unlimited rides for 24 hours really the best deal compared to taxis and saves all that walking

well when i went we walked lol. but i would think a rental car. but some make u pay everyday as some make u pay every week. so how ever long your ganna be there thats my best bet
