Yesterday about 1:30 PM, the guy was mowing my lawn and the police came by to tell him to be quiet with the lawnmower!

Maybe I should cut the grass with a sissors. For petes sake it is the middle of the afternoon, lawnmowers are NOT quiet machines,

Petra: There ae no such ordinances here for times of noise. However, there is code enforcement laws regarding height of your grass/weeds so it has to be cut

Probably a new police officer feeling like his badge has magical powers.

How about settling for this riding lawn mower ? (haha)

Sounds like you have a YARD NAZI. I had a tree cut down and gave all the wood away but 6 pieces (18" x 16") and put them in my yard with a sign that said FREE FIREWOOD. You would need a chain saw to cut them down or a splitter. One was taken one day and the next day I came home to a letter from the city on my door to get rid of them or I'd be fined!
Since I have my OLD van with the middle seat out, I rolled them and hossed them into my van. I called the city and they said they can't take them. Yet they can come pick them up AND fine me $100! They have forced me to do something illegal. Oh well.

The older I get , the more ridiculous the laws become . It does sound like you have a nutty neighbour . I would find out just what the bi-law states for your area and make a sign and post for all to see. Then I suppose the sign police would just happen to be in your neighbourhood. It's a case of being damned if you do and damned if you don't!
Nice to see you back. You were missed.

You may need to call the city and get the noise ordinace to see if its a problem in your community. I grew up in Germany and it was prohibited to make noise between 10 PM and
7 Am and between 1Pm and 3Pm due to little kids taking naps. Maybe your community is the one sensible one that realizes that kids and adults need peace and quiet.

I would most definitely file a complaint about it with the ELECTED officials in that town. Nothing speaks louder than a potential lost vote. Not even a lawn mower.

Maybe someone in your neighborhood has a migraine and called the police insisting that they do something about the noise. To make her happy they did a drive by with a warning.
