how can history be recorded?

i mean as in how do we know things that happened in the past??

There are written records and physical evidence. Then one can use that to decide whether or not they should take it on faith that those bits of evidence are true, and that the interpretation of said evidence is correct.

They are often recorded as they happen and in time they become history.
