SOK...you know what a media whore Petey is. Even after 2 losses last season, they were in a BCS berth they didn't deserve (ditto for my Irish)...so why would the idiot media deny high and mighty money making USC their glory, earned or not. The only consolation for me is that sater Cal, Oregon, UCLA or the likes hand you your 2nd and or 3rd loss...it'll be mighty hard to put them in. But I still think it could happen!
So, Booty proved he is an overhyped horses rear, as "the best College Team Ever", lost to a team that is so much weaker than App St, it aint even funny. Well, I guess its funny to me, but I cnat laugh too hard, since my Irish still gotta go to the Colesium......but hey, maybe Weis can borrow Harbaughs play-book. The fact that you guys lost to a back-up QB is just more delicious. Oh well....Petey still gots plenty more in him...if not this season, maybe next.
The question is...why kind of character do these kids have? Will they dust themselves off, like Michigan, and get back in the game.....or will they continue to self destruct? And can we officially take Booty-Head off the Heisman ballots yet?

Its not that USC has time to make a comeback, its that the other teams still have a chance to lose. Because two-thirds of the BCS formula are human polls, it is essentially a ladder system.
Lets say USC falls to 10th in this week's polls. For USC to make it back to the top two -- eight of the nine teams ranked above it would have to lose. Assuming USC runs a very tough schedule, its hard to project two teams in the top ten as locks to run the table. With a weak Big 10, Ohio State is the most likely to run the table. If USF is really the class of the Big East, they have a chance at running the table. Neither, however, is a lock. Everyone else (including USC) are in tough confrerences in which finishing 10-2 is a major accomplishment likely to get you a BCS bowl bid.
The reality of the BCS is that two rules apply. One, it is helpful to be given (and it is given since nobody has proven anything in competition yet) a high ranking in the pre-season poll. Second, it is better to have a real bad loss early in the season against a mediocre team than a close loss at the end against a tough team.

I think they will have a real good shot.I'm going to be honest even though they lost last night and LSU almost did. They are the two best teams in the Country.Of course if I was ranking them I'd have to drop USC for their loss but that's how the polls work. But to answer your question I think USC will have another shot to make the game.I think LSU will be the only team to go undefeated this year if anyone does.South Florida probably has the second best chance, but I'm not sure they will get the respect from the voters as a 1 loss USC team will.Voters don't believe in 1 year wonders as they do the ones that have consistantly on top.

No way!! USC has benefitted from very high preseason rankings for the last couple of years in a conference that until very recently could not compete against SEC, ACC etc. They have not been sharp this year and have had a few other close calls against mediocre teams. Any 1 loss team in the SEC should be given consideration over USC. They should drop out of the top 15 for losing to Stanford and when they lose again to somebody in their weak conference, this conversation will be over.

thats a big IF..youve got arizona st, UCLA and cali still all undefeated still in the pac 10. the awesome thing is, they all play each other and USC. its hard to say how thats all gonna end, but USC with a division loss to a 1-3 team, doesnt look good when they still play Ariz. St (6-0, 3-0), Cali (5-0, 2-0), or UCLA (4-2, 3-0). That division is anyones!!! But that loss should be a good kick in the azz to them and they are beatable!!

Hey SOK USC lost to Stanford. S T A N F O R D!. At least my Mountaineers lost to a team that is good. If any one loss team deserves to be in the BCS game at this point, why not WVU.
Of course their are enough undefeated teams at this point (and I'm not counting the Hawaii's of the world) ahead of us that no one loss teams are deserving.

USC has little to no chance of making it to the National Championship. I would bet they fall out of the top 10 tonight, but we'll see when the rankings come out.

Cal State and Oregon games will be the litmus test for your question. If they are able to overcome these two teams I don't see much arguement to allow them to move forward to the BCS.
