The Women's Murder Club was a good detective book, but the TV shows tend to fall short. At least it's not another reality show.
I'd like to see I Robot remade to a TV series. The books are 3 separate collections of short stories, with a human and robot team of detectives solving crimes commited by robots. Since robots must follow the 3 laws of robotics, we know there is a human behind every crime. Anyway that's off topic, but the ideas are out there, if the producers will break out of their copycat mode of coming up with ideas. Who do we talk to?

Agreed, all twaddle. Why not bring back series like Rising Damp, the Two Ronnies, Poirot, MASH, and other greats.
And get shut of those so-called games, the pay-as-you-go kinds. And chuck out those inane 'reality' shows like Big Brother and that 'lifestyle' sh-it.
We only had five TV channels here in Brit until a few years ago and they were a damn sight better than what we've got now. The globalization of TV hasn't done anyone any favours.

There have always been lame shows on the tv, during any era the boob tube was in existence. You need to take off your rose-colored glasses and remember shows like "My Mother the Car," or any myriad of other failed shows that stunk up the airwaves. Even the "classics" you refer to would be rather cheesy if aired in today's atmosphere, where production values for shows have skyrocketed, due to their increasing marketability and pull.
And even more ironically, all of the 'great' shows you remember from your hey day were mostly ripped off from other sources as well. The Odd Couple formula was already a staple in literature and plays. It was just the first time it was done on the television. Those shows were not bastions of originality, exactly as today's shows aren't either.
So it's just you.

I gave up on network TV about half-way through the second season of Frasier. Recycled actors, recycled scripts, recycled jokes, recycled "plots". Although I don't watch network TV you can't escape the advertisements. It seems there are only three shows being made nowadays -- "reality" shows, cop shows, doctor shows. I watch a lot of shows on Discover, History, and National Geographic channels. When I want comedy, BBCAmerica -- British sitcoms are funnier than American sitcoms. Oh, and Nickelodeon for the cartoons.

Mindless TV for mindless people? When I was a kid we had like 7 TV stations and there was a conflict as to what to watch! Then came cable...great idea for many years until, sometime in the late 80's, I sat there one night and with over 85 channels to watch, could not find anything worthwhile. Then came satellite! Now I have over 200 channels which are 97% lame...Go figure!

i am so tired of those! they have so many different kinds of csi's and law and orders. i really only watch comedies, but yeah, i see a lot of the same kind of plotlines for people running around with guns that weigh as much as they do.
