Little over 3 hours on the way from LA to San Diego to visit Sea World.
The entire time I cursed and said 'someone better have died to cause this much traffic'.
I will never say that again.
It was a multi-car pileup- over 100 cars (the record at the time). I knew it was bad when I saw a Volvo wagon wrapped around a Ford Explorer. It included 6 big-rigs and over 95 cars in total, and was over 1.5 miles long.
...needless to say, I don't complain about traffic anymore.

The longest i have sat in traffic is 45 minutes.

about 6 hours the last bad hurricane that came thru Florida but have a new way to get out of town with out sitting in traffic !

About 3 hours but i have caused an accident so i know how it is to be on the other end of the bad scene! Not so fun there either.

Over 3 hours. I was on my way home from Ocean City, MD with friends in high school. Accident on the turnpike.

about 1/2 an hour, there was a big 18 wheeler that ran into the power lines by the airport...=-)

2 hours and 42 minutes (yes I counted) on the 101 after a diesel truck jackknifed and spilled oil across the freeway.
