Of course. Most of my life has been built on that premise, helping those in need. It may simply be that I can offer a shoulder to lean on, an ear to bend or if it is possible, physical help. Even though I now find I need help and those we are supposed to trust have turned away, I would be unable to stop myself from helping another.
