The view from my back garden is over famland. Sounds great eh?.......No!.. my local farmer takes every opportunity he can to dissrupt the lives of people that live next to his land. What I mean by this is, he only sprays his crops on fine Sunday afternoons when people are having BBQ's or relaxing in their gardens.
He always takes the combined harvester out for a spin around the field on the August bank holiday Monday.
Do you live near or next to farm land and if so, does your farmer deliberatley try his best to annoy you and your neighbour's like the a$$hole who lives near me?
I'm only asking this question to see if this kind of thing is going on any where else in the country, or am I just paranoid?

This guy has dozens of fields to choose from, most of them are no where near peoples homes. Guess which one he chooses to work on at weekends and bank holidays.

Here is my guess and I may be wrong. The farmer you are griping about probably has a Job or maybe two of which he goes off to during the week. He is doing the work of a farmer and trying desperately to hold the farm together by working a full time job away from the farm.

You are paranoid. The farmer is making his living from farming the land. He may have to work another full time job to make ends meet. Give him a break if he has to work on fine Sunday afternoons when you are getting to relax with family and friends. I'm sure he's not taking his harvester "out for a spin" for enjoyment or to annoy you. YOU should not live next to a hard working farm...you're too self centered. If not for the farmers, what will we eat? Get on your knees and thank God for farmers.

I live in France and own a residential farm in the beautiful south - live in Paris either -

I think people like me consider country as a postcard, and countrymen consider it as a place to WORK - They have no particular considration for our sacred week-ends, sundays, sunbaths, swimming-pools etc - and I understand them -

Work and fun do not co-exist easily - they are contradictory - they really show that cultural schocks exist even inside a country -" c'est la vie" dude

This is very common : there is a cultual schock - and so many trials for cocks singing too early in the morning or pigs-stals stinking -

Joane AW if you proceed as you say anywhere in the world you'll go on te surest way to create your enemies - When you have to resolve a problem of neighbourhood the first step is direct negotiation with the persons -

Just to make sure, go to your City Hall's Inspection Department and talk to an inspector to see if Sunday could be a day of rest to all that are involved.

OR fill out a form to speak to the City Counsel about declaring Sundays as a day of rest. You will find these forms in the City Sectary's office.

Sometimes people become resentful when they have to work and others get to play. This might be a grudge thing, and it might be that the farmer is sending his son out to work. It could be the son that is resentful of your days off.

A working farm is a business, it is run like a business. When work needs to be done, it is done, plain and simple.
If the work does not get done, the business fails, that's it.
I'm willing to bet that there are things that people would like to do with that land that are a lot worse than farming.
I doubt that this guy is deliberately trying to annoy anyone. He's just trying to do 8 days work in a 7 day week (now that's annoying for him, I'm sure).
Consider yourself lucky that you don't have to put up with the Traffic, noise, dirt and crime that you get in the city along with the fact that YOU don't have to work on Sunday

sorry to tell you the world does not revolve around you, the farmer has more important things to do than just try to annoy you he does things when they need to be done no matter when it is, crops and animals don't care about what day it is or bank holidays .... get a life. He could always spray his crop in the wind so you get your house covered in crap then you would have a reason to moan

I think you are beyond paranoid.

Farmers work around the clock and within the confines of the seasons and weather. What may be a beautiful BBQ day to you is a day that is fit to work for a farmer. Be grateful that there are people out there who are willing to work non-stop to to make food available for your table.

We used to rent a house from a farmer who still farmed the land we lived on. During harvesting season, he was out in the fields at all hours of the night trying to get all of his crop in.

You have never worked on a farm have you? it's a 7 day week, no bank holidays or sunday afternoon bbq's for farmers.
Paranoid? no - maybe just a little selfish and naive.

I used to live next door to a farmer. He worked all day every day and the various tasks had to be done when the time was just right, or when he could finally get round to them. He was a good neighbour to me. However he had little time for the prat who lit a bonfire behind his hay barn or people who complained about animal calls. He regarded them as about as self sufficient and worldly as a canary in a cage. I think with good cause.

Gosh, I am sorry for you - why don't you ask the farmer to only do his work in the middle of the night, or write up a schedule for him so as not to disrupt you?!
He's earning money you wally! He doesn't only work to wind you up!

Plant a hedge at the bottom of your garden, that way the spray shouldn't get into your land.
