ok, I bought a brand new Nissan Sentra (2k7) back in February. It is the beginning of October, and I feel that I have been neglecting her finish. I keep her very VERY clean, detailing weekly, amor-all insides, tire shine, everything! I wanted to wax my car, but after much research I see that there are some people who oppose waxing NEW cars. They say it destroys certain parts of the modern paint job. I just want to find some truth to all of this, and find out which is the best route for me to go. She is still very shiny, so i dont want to compromise that, i would just like to preserve the shine as much as possible! I thought waxing was to be done as often as possible, but now I'm very IF-fy on the subject, and dont want to RUIN anything. I bought Meguiar's Cleaner Wax, thinking it was a good way to go, and tried it on my g/f's Stratus, shined it up a lil bit, although it was a lil dull, and honestly cant really quite tell the difference. What should i use?! Please be thorough!!!!!

With a Nissan Sentra, I wouldn't worry too much about waxing it, you're not going to look like a pimp to start off with.

I think what you really need is some 22" spinning chrome rims, some racing stripes and some tinted windows.

Wax doesn't destroy any parts. Now if the paint job was less than three months old and you waxed it then you could run into problems. Waxing your paint will help protect it from fading and you'll have nice beads of water on it when it rains. I'm not a big fan of Meguiar's waxes, but I do like Mothers. They apply easy and come off easy as well. I always start with Mothers cleaner wax and then use Easy Off by Car Brite which is a good protectant wax. Eagle One also makes good products so you could try them as well. You have to experiment with different waxes until you find the one you like.

It is time to bury that finish under a protective layer of good carnuba wax. Then only use car wash soap that won't strip off the wax. Simonize car wash instant dry took off my mequires gold class wax. I reccomend Mequires products Mothers Products washes and waxes and enjoy watching the neighbors cat sliding off of your car's bonnett or hood or boot or trunk. Proper waxing about twice a year will keep your paint protected from acid rain and bird droppings and tree sap. And the cat claw marks will wipe right off!

First Armoral and similar products and Tire Shine promote dry rot in plastics and rubbers, always use a silicone base product to create "wet look". A high quality wax is always a good start, no spray and dry waxes, always use a wax that you apply by hand. Wax is important because it provides a barrier from the environment (UV rays, acid rain, and dirt) and your clear coat. Once the clear coat is penetrated then the paint is exposed and will quickly lose its luster.
