Why do people think 9/11 was a conspiracy?
The things I see people posting as "proof" of a conspiracy are unconvincing to preposterous, and usually involve:
--puffs of dust
--incredibly dishonest internet movies made by young amateurs (instead of real expert publications)
--outright lies like "there were no bodies or plane parts found at the Pentagon" (this claim is ludicrous)
--claims that steel can't melt even though noone is saying it did
--claims of thermite in the twin towers even though the "distinctive fingerprint" of thermite is missing, as admitted by Prof Jones
--a book by a retired Professor of Philosophy (Griffin) who thinks he knows more that the American Society of Civil Engineers
--that Flight 93 was shot down by a missile even though it made a gigantic crater (pieces can't do that)
--that we could have shot down the planes even though noobody knew where they were with their transponders turned off, until it was too late
--that WTC7 shouldn't have fallen (because the jets didn't hit it) even though 5 other buildings fell without being hit (The Marriott World Trade Center, St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 6 World Trade Center, 5 World Trade Center, 4 World Trade Center. )
--that the towers “looked like a controlled demolition” even though world famous demolition journal articles say it didn’t
See
http://www.implosionworld.com/Article-WTC%20STUDY%208-06%20w%20clarif%20as%20of%209-8-06%20.pdf
--that the towers fell at free fall speeds even though NIST (National Institute of Science & Technology) says they didn’t. See Point 6 at http://wtc.nist.gov/pubs/factsheets/faqs_8_2006.htm
--that concrete was completely pulverized at WTC even though demoltion experts said it wasn’t. See, again,
http://www.implosionworld.com/Article-WTC%20STUDY%208-06%20w%20clarif%20as%20of%209-8-06%20.pdf
Etc, etc, etc.

It's easier than challenging a lifetime of building up an image of "knowing" that the government is corrupt and that the world is really pretty safe and that it is the U.S.A.'s fault.
America hating got pretty popular. The news, which was just doing what news does, didn't help. News stories are about the strange, the unusual. That's why you don't see ex-felons occupying 90% of all news stories. You see priests, politicians, police officers, and such. It's BECAUSE they rarely commit crime compared to the general public, because we hold them to a higher standard, that they end up in the news when they commit a crime.
What's sad is that some people mistake that as representative of real life, like someone reading the gossip column and assuming that that is all people talk about.
Rather silly.
It is easier to thing the worst than to do the research. It doesn't challenge their self-image, makes them feel superior, and gives them a vast number of "obvious idiots" (us) that clearly don't know the truth to act superior to.
When they see a government, keeping secrets in the midst of a war, they translate that as "something to hide" (a fairly obvious conclusion) and "they are doing something wrong and corrupt" (a fairly silly conclusion in the face of all the other facts).

Because of the documented fact that the CIA received memos in January 2001, from intelligence agencies in France and Israel, stating Al Queda was getting ready to attack either New York or Los Angeles in the near future. The memo included the names of three of the 9-11 hijackers. The CIA and Bush administration chose to ignore the warnings.

People believe government set that all up so that people would feel so shocked and traumatized that there would be no way they would say no to sending troops over to Afghanistan. Once there they just hopped over the adjacent country into Iraq and kind of forgot about Bin Laden rather quickly and focussed instead on Hussein and weapons of mass destruction which never materialized. I think that fed the conspiracy theory even further.
I don't think what you and I think matters whatsoever....what matters is what THEY think and what they will do about it in future.

No people from Israel were killed. There were usually plenty in that complex. The Penn. crash? Come on, you cant be that stupid not to see that jet was shot down. Body parts were found before the crash site, think it over. There are many things hidden from us but cuz we are good little sheep we will never ask.
